How Does Central Air Conditioning Work

Do you know how your Central Air & Heating System?

During different seasons we have different temperatures. In summer the house gets hotter than in winter. This is obvious, so we need a heating and air conditioning dissipation system in the summer and a home heating system for heating cold air in winter. This is the time when you need the central air conditioning and heat pump to help you. I’m sure you know that central AC system and energy star heating is possible in many forms. What we are looking at here is just another method, but how exactly does central air conditioning work?

Most commonly, you will find a split system where the condenser and compressor are outdoors and connected by refrigerant piping to a heat exchanger (or evaporator) in the air handling unit. Such a unit is substantially similar to a metal box, which may include a blower, filters, heating/cooling elements, mixing chamber, humidifiers, controls and vibration isolators. By contrast, in a “packaged” system, normally everything is in a single outdoor unit.

The heat from home is channeled outside with a compressor cycle that works much like a refrigerator. A cooling fluid is passed through an expansion device which, upon absorption of heat, transfers from liquid to gas and is then released under high pressure in the open as vapor before it reverts from gas to liquid. The liquid then returns to the expansion device and the process is repeated.

The air in the home is cooled as it flows over the evaporator. The moisture is removed from the air and disposed of by the unit via the household drainage system.

Central air conditioning has some advantages over other systems, as the air from parts of the building is sucked through a filter. This filter absorbs dust and lint, cleans the air and cools it down. In addition, special filters can remove microscopic contaminants that can affect your health. Another advantage according to recent consumer reports is that the noise is reduced because the device is outside the building giving these type of HVAC systems a higher efficiency rating and 21 seer rating.

There may be a specific size and design you need for your home or business. So, look for someone to install the right system for your specific situation. There are many contractors who have the installation of central air conditioning and are trained. If you decide to have it installed at your home or business, you will make a wise choice. If you live in a climate that is hot and humid, central air is the best choice to stay cool and comfortable all year round. It gives a uniform temperature feeling in every room of your house, which makes it very comfortable and inviting.

Central air conditioners are usually installed behind the house or in an area that blocks the equipment when landscaping. After installation, you need to know how to properly maintain the system to last a long time. The device must be cleaned from time to time and the filter must be checked regularly for dirt. This will help ensure that the air in your home flows properly. It’s good to ask your installer how best to take care of your system so you can extend the life of your central air conditioning system. Most installers perform regular maintenance to operate the system effectively and efficiently throughout the year.

How To Deal With Heating And Cooling Problems

Heating, Air conditioning, and ventilation problems occur in almost every unit. Even with most heating and cooling systems manufacturers offer warranties for a number of years, many usually start showing substantial problematic issues in their first year. The worst part is that this is the time one realizes that their warranty is worthless and needs to call a heat and central air technician to help fix the problems. However before spending a few hundred dollars on an air conditioner repairmen, here are 5 common HVAC heat systems and cool air problems and how to deal with them on your own.

1. The heat pump is iced during winter

Winter means that any heat pump will be substantially covered with light ice in some parts. However, it is unusual for it to be fully encased, due to the heat it is producing. If this occurs and the insides of the coils are iced, the pump automatically goes into defrost to ensure that the iced coils are released to save energy and the pump. If this does not happen, shut off the pump and manually remove the ice. If icing occurs again check to see whether the gutter is dripping and needs repair. Elevating the heat pump to keep leaves and snow off from it is vital, eliminating any heating problems.

2. The humidifier is not working

Humidifying not working means the air becomes too dry during the winter. In this case, open the humidifiers water valves or the bypass damper. If this does not solve the problem and the water panel is clogged with sediment, a replacement should be done.

3. Heat pump blowing cold air

The heat pump blowing cold air is a very common heating problem. Start by removing any ice on the outdoor unit. In the event it has not, iced up but blows cold air, checking the air handler in the attic to determine if its running should be done. It could be a simple disconnection causing the heat pump to pull cold air into the rooms, leading to the cold air. Any additional cold air problem should be consulted to a professional.

4. Outdoor unit steaming

Many usually make a simple mistake that the water vapor is actually steaming. However, if the fan has actually stopped working and makes loud noises than normal, removing the leaves and other sediments in the outdoor coil should be done. This way free airway is achieved, making the outdoor unit function as it’s supposed to. If the charge is restricted or low, a professional should be contracted.

5. The outdoor unit makes strange loud noises

Another common cooling problem reported is strange loud noises. However, it is good to know that in winter, outdoor units function louder than in summer or spring. This occurs as the pump functions in defrost mode, shifting the valve which causes the louder noise. On the other hand, if it’s a new strange loud sound, shut the unit down immediately to avoid ruining fan blades. It can be the copper tube that as shifted and is being hit by the blades. Shifting it back in place and securing it is important. Still, if this is not the case, it may be that some parts have become loose and start vibrating causing the loud strange noises. Tightening the parts will eliminate the problem.

All in all, with the 5 common cooling and heating problems a do it yourself project, calling a professional repair service to help with more complex issues is advised.

Once you have it narrowed down to your top 3 then you are almost ready to make your final decision.  Make sure that the company you choose has a good history of performing excellent AC contractor and heating repair work.  The last thing you want to do is to hire a company that has work that will not hold up.

When you find the company that best works for you be sure to set up a routine service call before the blazing hot month’s approach and you should be just fine.  They will simply inspect your central air system and fix any major problems ensuring you a cool and comfortable summer.

How To Find Heating and Cooling Parts

Are you in need of air conditioning and heating parts?

If your central air system is not working then you may want to contact one of the HVAC dealers in your area.  You should be able to find all your repair parts and a certified distributor warehouse.  They will have a wide variety of both new and used heating and air parts for you to choose from.  The benefit of going with a new part is that it will most likely be under warranty to where a used part will not be.

Now, you need to visit a few AC and heat pump supply houses before you make your decision on where to purchase your part from.  Some of these warehouses have been known to rip people off.  So you really need to check the prices on each distributor that you go and see and compare them to all of the others alike.  Once you feel as if you have found the best and most trusted supplier you can then make your purchase.

Preparing Your HVAC System For The Winter

Have you thought about your furnace & heat pump maintenance?

Getting your HVAC system through the hot months is only part of the solution to keeping your home comfortable.  You must also contact the best heat repair company in your area to prepare your furnace and heat pump for the winter months.  If you fail to do this you could be in for a long and cold winter.

Unfortunately, more people than you think are are not aware of how important it is to take care of your heating and cooling system year around.  Many homeowners make the mistake of not having their fall heating and air service call performed every year.  And every year there are emergency HVAC calls made because someone’s central air system has stopped working.

All of this can simply be avoided by simply contacting your local AC and heat pump contractor and setting up a routine maintenance call for your air flow system.

What To Do In The Summer

Are you tired of the heat?

If you simply cannot handle the heat anymore then you might want to consider installing a better airflow system into your home.  Many people have many different opinions on which system is the best heating and cooling system on the market today.  But finding the right system is just half of the battle.  Once you find it you have to find someone to install it for you and believe me you want to make sure they know what they are doing.  Once you have the system purchased and have hired the best person for the job you just need to get started.

One of the things I recommend is going with one of the name brands like Trane or York AC units.  Both of these brands have been proven to be among the best for years now.   You hardly ever hear any bad reviews on either of the type of HVAC units.

Hot Summers With No Air Conditioning

Did your HVAC system break this summer?

If you live in North Carolina then you understand just how many residential heating and cooling Wilmington NC service calls were made this year.  This summer brought along some of the most intense heat the Carolina’s have seen in years.  The last thing anyone needed during these scorching heatwaves would be having their HVAC system break.  With no working air conditioner to produce cool air, it would be a very miserable summer for you.

Unfortunately, many residents in the state neglected to have their routine AC and heat repair service call performed this year.  Because of these actions contractors across the entire state of North Carolina have been overwhelmingly busy this year.  This is especially true for coastal towns.  So many people have spent many hot and miserable nights at their house this year because of their neglection.  I can almost guarantee that things will not be the same next summer.

Top-Quality Heating & Air Companies

Do you know who the best HVAC companies were this summer?

The list has finally been released of who the 2018 best heat pump repair companies are.  This is a list that is released every summer to help residents and businesses keep up to date on who to call when their AC unit breaks.  The list consists of the top 10 companies in various areas across the nation.  For example, if you live in the Houston, TX area there would be a list of the top 10 heating and cooling companies in that area.  A list is made for all 50 states.

This is very helpful for both residents and business owners.  The list really helps when someone’s heating and air just suddenly stops working.  By already having the top 10 companies in your state you have already gotten a head start on finding the best company for you.  In my opinion, the best thing to do is to find a company on the list that is closest to you and simply contact them.

Dealing With Hot Summers

Do you need to escape the heat?

If you are simply tired of the hot summers let me recommend you start thinking about looking at inground pools to install.  Not only are inground pools a great way to escape the hot summer heat, they are also great for parties and family activities.  Many families use their pools for birthday parties, family gatherings and sometimes even weddings.  Now, installing these pools can become a little pricey but if you compare the pros and cons I believe you will see that it can be a very good investment.  After all, what is more, rewarding than being able to have fun and spend time with your family?

There are many types of inground pools to choose from, it really all depends on where you live to which one would be best for you.  If you live along the ocean you are very limited to the level of the water table in your area.  These areas can cost quite a bit more to install a pool.

Finding The Right AC Unit Parts

Is your HVAC system broken?

The one thing you need in order to keep cool during the summer months is to make sure your HVAC system is working properly.  The best way to do this is to contact an HVAC supply company and replace any parts that need replacing before the summer months approach.  If you do not feel comfortable replacing the needed parts yourself do not worry,  all you need to do is contact one of your local heating and cooling companies and they will gladly send an AC repair contractor to your house.  Once the contractor is there they will install your new parts for your heating and air system.

Now, if you feel as if they did a good job repairing your HVAC system I highly suggest having them start doing your routine maintenance calls for you.  These type of service call usually prevent your air conditioning system for breaking from the very start.
